RAPID LACKING INCENTIVE FOR JELAVIC PARTING

Glasgow Rangers appear to be set to file their second bid for Rapid Vienna striker Nikica Jelavic today. The 24 year old is believed to be available at the right price. However similarly to Red Bull's Mark Janko, Rapid have no incentive to offload the player cheaply. Jelavic is currently valued around 5m Euro's, however his valuation could increase with a second goal laden campaign in Austria. For Jelavic Scottish league Champions Rangers would also appear to be a sidewards step. Jelavic may encounter problems moving to England due to having not featured regularly enough at international level, so a deal with Blackburn Rovers could prove difficult.

Rangers may find better luck lodging a bid for Ivan Klasnic, as the 30 year old is clued up on the club having roomed with Dado Prso at Euro 2004. Meanwhile, rivals Celtic could be set to offer Spartak Moscow's Stipe Pletikosa first team football as they bid to persuade the Croatia international keeper to sign for them over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. Elsewhere Chievo are set to discuss with Palermo the transfer of striker Igor Budan, who has just had an operation on his troublesome knee.
