HAJDUK DEBATE NEW SIGNINGS

Having cut the squad size and wage bill ahead of the new season, Hajduk Split will debate on whether to bring any new players to the team in the next couple of weeks. Top of their target list could be a defensive midfielder and a striker. Hajduk have however made it clear they do not intend to hand out any more over inflated contracts. Hajduk will definitely bring one striker should they sell Senijad Ibricic.

However there is also contentment to offer Duje Cop, Ahmad Sharbini, Mario Brkljaca and Marin Ljubicic a chance to impress. If Hajduk do enter the transfer market they may decide on a experienced midfielder in case Ljubicic and Brkljaca fail to meet the grade. Jurica Vranjes was a prime target at the start of the year, but will want the Werder Bremen man to fall in line with their wage structure. Vranjes is currently training with Bremen's under 23 side after falling out with coach Thomas Schaff.

In attack New Zealand's Shane Smeltz was mentioned, however Hajduk expect the World Cup star to transfer elsewhere after his goal against Italy. As Hajduk are looking for players with managable wages. Atromotis forward Zdravko Popovic could be a huge hit, whilst last seasons HNL1 top scorer Davor Vugrinec could offer a lot to their domestic campaign. It appears highly likely that Hajduk will first seek to give opportunities to their current playing staff.
