HAJDUK PUT ON EURO SHOW

Hajduk Split reached the last qualifying round for the Europa Liga group stage after a 3-0 second leg victory over Dinamo Bucarest. Hajduk were 3-1 down from the first meeting, but goals from Ante Vukusic, Mario Brkljaca and Marin Tomasov turn the match for the Croatian Runners Up.

After impressing in the last two games Mario Brkljaca who now looks set to stay. Brkljaca started the season as one of three defensive midfielders. However both Kreso and Marin Ljubicic picked up injuries to give the former Zagreb man his opportunity. Brkljaca also has an offer on the table from Russian Europa Liga representatives Sibir. However it now appears Brkljaca is a important part of Stanko Poklepovic's plans and will stay in the team for the forseeable future.

It remains to be seen if Hajduk will therefore pursue the signing of Jurica Vranjes as this may throw doubt on Brkljaca's place once again. Vranjes could perform duties in Hajduk's problem position at right back. However Mirko Oremus also proved himself a capable right back should Poklepovic restore in form Marin Tomasov to the right wing.

It would appear that Ante Vukusic will play the striker position in future, with Duje Cop and more significantly Ahmad Sharbini stuck on the bench. There is also no guarenteed place for Mario Ticinovic, who could be farmed out on loan to Karlovac. Hajduk could wait to sell Senijad Ibricic now in the winter.
